Yahoo updates search crawler with Slurp 3.0
While Google is experimenting on crawling hidden web pages through HTML forms indexing, Yahoo on the other hand has updated its search crawler with Slurp 3.0. Although the implementation of Slurp 3.0 would not really pose a big implication on webmaster’s part, just the same here are the changes that Slurp 3.0 will bring in the way it will crawl websites. New Medical Metasearch Engine: Scienceroll Medical Search
ScienceRoll Medical Search is a metasearch engine geared for those in the medical community. It consists of several different search engine options along with organizations from which users can pick to conduct their search. Among the medical search engines available are Clinical Trials, eMedicine, PubMed, and WebMD. The organizations include Aids.gov, WHO, and the CDC, among others. You may select all or only a few of the options, depending on your search preference. The number of results are tallied for each option you’ve selected. The top clusters are displayed on the left hand side; each cluster is expandable, revealing more keywords and topics. Additionally, ScienceRoll allows you to filter by file format—PDF or Excel. March Search Market Share: March Madness in the Search World
Things were ticking along nicely in the search world with not so much as a speed bump to be seen (set aside the market panic about Google’s paid click decline). Then along came March. Overall volume of search in March exploded, with total queries increasing over 6% and surpassing the 9 billion mark. That’s the biggest month-over-month increase in total search volume since July of last year. Interestingly enough this growth was not driven by our perennial search leader Google.
